Examples of impressions

Here are some examples of how imprints can look when we receive imprint kits from our customers. Our professional craftsmen then take over and produce a casting in the specified material.

Baby imprint instructions
Recommended ages: 0-6 months old for crystal glass

Congratulations on your decision to capture the imprint of your baby's little hand and/or foot with our unique handcrafted keepsake!   A precious memory to be cherished forever!

To ensure the best possible imprint, please follow our step-by-step instructions carefully.

IMPORTANT:  The clay is made from natural ingredients and should be refrigerated to keep its soft consistency, especially if you wait more than two weeks to make your imprint.

1.)    Make sure the clay is at room temperature. Then knead it  until it's soft and supple (not more than approx. 10 seconds).

2.)    Return the clay to the plastic box and make sure you press it towards the edges and even out the surface before you make the imprint.

Tip 1: Make the imprint when your baby is asleep or after a meal.

Tip 2: The clay contains salt so we suggest washing the hand and/or foot after imprinting to ensure that no salt ends up in your baby's mouth or eyes.

3.)    Examine the imprint to make sure you see:

All fingers and/or toes

The fine lines in the palm of the hand or soles
of the foot

The imprint does not have to be perfectly even or very deep, but it must be clear to ensure the best results of the final product. You can redo the imprint as many times as you like – just keep going until you are satisfied.

4.)    IMPORTANT:

Let the imprint air dry without the lid for a minimum of 16 hours
(max. 24 hours)!

After that:

a.       Cover the imprint with the plastic lid

b.       Insert the plastic box in the plastic bag,
and put it back in the small cardboard box.

c.       Put the completed order form on top

d.       Place everything in the black imprint kit box

e.       Seal the kit with the return address label.

f.       Mail immediately!

Frequently Asked Questions

1.) Is the clay safe for a newborn? [What is the clay made of?]

Yes, the main ingredients are salt, starch and oil.

Avoid salty fingers or toes in the baby's eyes or mouth by washing the hand and/or foot when the imprint is done.

2.) Why should the baby be less than 6 months old?

Due to the complexity of the process, we need to control the size of the product.

3.) I can't get my baby to open the hands or feet.

Try again! If it is impossible, you might consider to have a fist imprint in crystal glass – looks wonderful! Curled up toes may also look cute – and makes a fun memory of how your baby acted when the imprints were taken!

4.) Can you improve a poor imprint?

We can deepen the imprint and improve lines, if needed, so don't worry if the imprint of the heel is deeper than the toes or vice versa.

5.) Why does the imprint look less detailed today than yesterday?

The lines are not as clear after the clay is dry, but don't worry they are still there and will appear again when it's cast.

6.) Can I order more imprints or castings from the same original imprint?

Yes, you can order more of any of the products or any combination of products.

7.) When can I expect to get my finished product?

Since our artisans follow a detailed process to produce this unique piece of art you should allow eight to nine weeks until it shows up at your doorstep.
