What's more special and pure than a clear piece of Swedish crystal with an imprint of a newborn baby's hand or foot?" Katinka Bille Lindahl – Founder, President and mother of four The idea came to me one day when I picked up my teenage son from the dentist and he showed me a plaster impression of his teeth. Look, mom, here’s a memory of me! The idea came to me out of the blue: Instead of this teeth casting - why didn’t I have a beautiful casting of his tiny little toes when he was a baby? What a wonderful memory that would have been… My brain began working and I started doing some research…. I spent years researching and testing different materials and methods. Finally, I found a way to produce a beautiful, timeless memento of a time gone by, handcrafted in Swedish crystal glass. A memory for life! The rest is history. Today, LifeStone receives orders from new parents in Sweden and Norway and from places as far away as Singapore, California and Alaska. It's amazing that tiny hand and foot imprints from babies around the world arrive on our little island every day. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to create beautiful and timeless keepsakes in Swedish crystal glass every day out of these tiny imprints. 		Our Process Our process is a well-kept secret that took years of trial and error to develop. But you might want to know that LifeStone is the only company in the world that makes castings of babies' hands and/or feet in genuine Swedish Crystal Glass. The process of making the personalized crystal glass castings from the imprints is a detailed, multi-phased process performed by skilled artists in Sweden. Every piece is hand-made and truly unique. The process takes about 7 weeks to complete from start to finish.


		Our artisans Our skilled artisans work meticulously to carry out each step with the utmost precision in a lengthy and complex process. We love our job and take great pride in delivering the highest quality of handmade baby castings. They are truly special pieces of art that celebrate the fleeting moments of a baby's first time in life. Most of us have children of our own, so it's natural for us to treat each order as a special assignment given that each baby imprint is as unique as the individual.

Our Studio

The studio is located on a small island—Flatön— on the West coast of Sweden. We are fortunate to work and live here in harmony with nature, by the ocean. Yet, it's only an hour from the Sweden's second largest city—Gothenburg.

The island, which is reached by ferry, is bustling with life during the summer when thousands of boaters and tourists visit to swim and enjoy its beauty. During the other seasons, we have this wonderful place to ourselves.
