Craftsmanship that leaves traces...

Your glass casting is a unique work of art, made entirely by hand by experienced glass-blowers. An individual mould has to be made for each new hand- or foot-print. The melted glass that is used is of the highest quality. It is same glass that is used to produce the exclusive art glass in Swedish crystal for which this glassworks is famous. The process leaves many difference traces - and you may find one or more of them in your casting. They should not be regarded as defects; quite the reverse, they are proof that your casting was produced by the hand of a master.

Traces:

Small air bubbles form when the melted glass is taken from the smelting furnace.
Grains of sand from the mould may melt on the underside or inside the glass.
Wave-like patterns may be created when the molten glass moves the imprint slightly in the mould.

A pattern like beaten metal may be seen on the reverse side; this is due to diffe-rences in the temperature between the glass and the mould.

A veil of mist inside the glass - traces of the scissors that cut the red-hot melted glass from the scoop before it is released into the mould.

A long or short fold on the reverse side of the glass may form when the molten glass spreads unevenly in the bottom of the mould after first striking the imprint.
Imprints placed "at an angle" could result when the weight of the melted glass moves the imprints in the mould.

The thickness of all the castings varies and the thickness of one casting may even vary. A glass heart could, for example, be thicker on one side than on the other.

As a result the depth of the engraving may also vary. For this reason, some of the characters in a name or a date may stand out somewhat more clearly than others.
